Equipment

What follows is a list of equipment Michael Brook used in a 1993 performance at The Rivoli in Toronto. Brook likely uses a similar set-up in the studio. The live gear is run directly into a P.A., with no guitar amps involved. This collection of equipment has a mid-rangey sound, where the goal is to achieve a sound with all the lows, highs, and mids. Much of the below is the same outboard gear found in Peter Gariel's Real World studios, as listed on the Real World website.

  • Guitar: Tokai Strat with standard Seymour Duncan Pickups and original Floyd Rose double locking vibrato system
  • Modified with infinite guitar box that generates electromagnetic feedback providing continuous sustainable tones
  • Preamps: Neve (for that clean velvety sound)
  • Tech 21 SansAmp
  • EQ: Yamaha GE10N Graphic EQ
  • Dynamics: DOD 280 Compressor
  • Reverb: Lexicon LXP-1
  • Pitch Shift: Eventide H3000 Ultra Harmonizer
  • Delay: Electro-Harmonix Memory Man 16-second digital delay
  • Multi-Effects: Yamaha SPX90
